Everyone has a vision of the ideal life. For John and Leanne Tolerton, the Lowcountry is where that dream was finally realized. Simple things such as watching John’s father walk with their son down the beach, searching the tide pools for mussels or taking the boat out for a peaceful day on the water is their idea of heaven. John and Leanne know making each and every day a meaningful one is what life is all about. Their arrival at this philosophy was a defining moment for both of them.
A Turning Point
While playing golf for Ohio University and getting a degree in marketing, John took a course that changed his perspective on life. The subject matter dealt with the typical American existence and how many people spend their whole life working, hardly enjoying themselves along the way and in many cases, don’t live long after retiring. This theory was driven deeper into John’s mind when he returned home for summer break and found out that a police officer down the street passed away the same week he retired. It proved to be a huge turning point. He realized that pursuing your passions wasn’t something to procrastinate on.
A Shared Perspective
Leanne’s thirst for life took root growing up in a small college town in Ohio. But even though she came from a small community, she had big dreams that she wasted no time fulfilling. From Hawaii to California to Colorado, she took life by the reins and searched to find the ultimate lifestyle. While living in Nebraska and working on her degree in biology, a strange twist of fate happened. Leanne met John, and although they attended the same high school, they never really knew each other. But more importantly, they discovered they shared the very same perspective on what they wanted out of life.
A Dream Achieved
After getting married, John and Leanne wanted to start a family, but knew there was one thing missingthe ideal place to call home. Once again, destiny intervened and they came to the Lowcountry for a family occasion. It didn’t take long after that visit to make the decision to return for good. “We moved to this picturesque place where John’s parents had been living and loved it,” Leanne recalls. “We spent a long time looking for a dream and feel that we’ve found it here in the Lowcountry with our family.” But their journey didn’t stop there. John and Leanne embarked upon a business partnership helping other families make their own ambitions a reality.
